About Joseph Bishop


Hi, my name is Joseph Bishop. I am from Caledonia Ontario. I have shots from across Southern Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I have had several photos published in print magazines and some used online. My photos taken up until April 2015 were taken on a Canon EOS Rebel XS. I now shoot with a Nikon D3200. Thanks for checking out my photos and enjoy! I also assist the Railpictures.ca team with the site databasing.

CN L502 is on the last leg of their trip from Sarnia to Garnet as they approach the grade crossing at Sandusk Road. Leading the train is brand new SD75iACC's 8328 and 8317.

CN 8328 and CN 8317 lead CN L502 across the Grand River in Caledonia. These two SD75iACC rebuilds are on what I believe was their second revenue run after bringing CN 492 into Sarnia last night. CN 8328 is the form CN 5707 and CN 8317 is the former CN 5664

CN L580 rests in front of the restored station at Caledonia with the BNSF 2090 in the lead. The crew would outlaw here, ending their day. BNSF 2090 has since left its assignment on 580.

On June 25th, the latest Via Rail Siemens Trainset travelled through Southern Ontario on its way to MMC to be handed off by CN to Via. This set is a one of scheme reminiscent of the Turbo Trains of the past. It is seen here passing through Brantford on CN P276.

CN L542 makes a reverse move to drop 2 flat cars of rail at PNR Railworks in Guelph. The power on this day was GTW 6420, BNSF 2926, BNSF 2090 which made for a very colourful consist.

IC 6250 made for an unlikely yet welcome leader on Z122 as it cruised through the countryside between Princeton and Paris. Issues with the trailing GE's meant that the IC got to go along for the trip all the way to Montreal.

Another lovely March Day was on tap today which warranted a drive somewhere...we pointed the car towards St. Jacobs and found the WCR running a few March Break trains with the ex CN 1437 on motive power duties. Pictured is the train reversing back to the shops after departing the Market Station.

CN L501 crosses the Grand River in Caledonia with CN 3970 in the lead on a brisk but gorgeous March morning. CN 3970 is the ex CREX 1512. Knowing that L502 was late into Garnet yesterday, I decided to get up early and hope for a Northbound photo on the bridge in Caledonia.

The CPKC Holiday train arrives at Galt Ontario under the watchful eye of the railway police. The officer was kind enough to pose his truck with the lights on for my photo which combined two of my passions, trains and police vehicles into one photo. The railway police is a job that often goes overlooked, these men and women work to protect the property surrounding the railway assets. The officers I spoke with were following the train from Toronto across the Galt and then heading North to go with the Canadian version of the train. That is a long time away from home!

A short CN L580 crosses the Grand River in Caledonia behind BNSF 2098 and CN 4713. I have photographed a lot of cool engines crossing this bridge in my life but a cascade green GP38-2 is pretty high on the "cool list" alongside a NS GE and two different CN SD40-2W's.

For a short period of time BNSF 2090 and BNSF 2968 were both assigned to Oakville Yard. Pictured is 2090 making a move while 2968 prepares to depart for Aldershot.
